This is one of the most Instagrammable spots in Balanga, Bataan. The plaza and its surroundings are based on Spanish architecture and structures so you shouldn’t leave without a selfie a selfie. The place features the Plaza Hotel Balanga, St Joseph Cathedral, Victoria Mall and the Balanga City Mall.
2.) Diocesan Shrine and Cathedral Parish of St Joseph
So after taking a selfie, head to St Joseph and marvel at the beauty of the cathedral. It also has its own Museo ng Mahal na Birheng Maria where you can see a collection of Mother Mary statues, with some as old as 300 years old. And if you are a Marian devotee, make sure you go the souvenir section to receive a small piece of Mother Mary’s relic in exchange for a small donation. The Marian devotee in the counter said to keep it with you all the time as it is believed to keep you safe, heal you from sickness and, in some cases, help women conceive.
3 and 4.) Surrender Site Memorial and Bataan World War II Museum
Next stop is the Surrender Site Memorial which is the exact location where the surrender happened during World War II. And right across it is Bataan World War II Museum where you can even meet survivors of the war. Our favorite is Lola Maria as she tells her story in details up to the time when the war has ended and they have made peace to all. During our visit, Lola Maria said that all is well now.
5.) Rolling Tour at Flaming Sword
On your way to the next attraction, your van will pass by the Flaming Sword monument. It is a gigantic sword in the city of Pilar that symbolizes the bravery of the soldiers during World War II.

Once you reach the top, you can ride the elevator to reach the top of the huge cross and enjoy a panoramic view of Bataan.
7.) Philippine-Japan Friendship Tower
Just like what Lola Maria said, all is well now and this tower symbolizes that new friendship. This tower also shows the good friendship between the Philippines and Japan.
