Zhiyun Smooth Q 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer Review: Is it Worth Buying?
Since team LaLP will start working on our YouTube channel, we decided to invest in equipment to make our shots and shoots look better. Based on our research and upon recommendations of numerous vloggers, the Zhiyun Smooth Q is a worthy purchase. So early this month, we went to an official distributor and bought our very first stabilizer.
Is Zhiyun Smooth Q 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer worth buying?
Yes, it is worth every penny. In team LaLP, none of us are talented photographers nor do we have any kind of DSLR to take photos or videos of our features. The only thing we have are somehow good smartphones with decent cameras. And having the Zhiyun Smooth Q have definitely leveled up our ability to create videos.
The great thing about this stabilizer is that it stabilizes every shot you make so all we need to do is place all the shots in one video and boom – we got a cinematic video worth watching.
How much does the Zhiyun Smooth Q 3-Axis cost?
If you buy from official distributors, the price is somewhere between 8,000 and 9,000 + PHP. However, if you buy from Lazada or any unofficial distributor, the cost ranges from 5,600 to 7,000 PHP. The difference between buying from an official distributor is you can take advantage of their excellent customer service. If you bought it from other stores, it will not be acknowledged by Zhiyun.
So the question is should you buy it from an official distributor or save money and go for the black market? For me, go for the official distributor. Although the chances of having a defective stabilizer are low, its hard to find a good repair shop for stabilizers in the country. And even if I do, I wouldn’t entrust my stabilizer to an unofficial repair shop.
But we went to Hong Kong last week and we found they’re selling it for 7,000 PHP. I’m not sure if the shop was an official distributor but it is a very well-known electric shop in HK.
Zhiyun Smooth Q 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer Tips and Tricks
- When you’re done using your stabilizer, place it back in its case. We used to just hold it carelessly when not in use and it looks like the balance is different than before. Some of our shots are noticeably not aligned properly.
- When using smartphones as small as Samsung S6, leave a little space at the bottom. Sometimes I can see a portion of the gimbal in my shots.
- If possible, use one phone all the time. This makes it faster for you to set up the gimbal because you don’t need to re-adjust its balance.
- If out of battery, take power using the gimbal. Yes, you can charge your smartphone while using the gimbal through the gimbal.
We’re going to upload some videos about the Zhiyun stabilizer, its performance and some tutorials in the future so watch out for that. 🙂
